KARACHI (Dunya News) – A group of land mafia has usurped and sold President Arif Alvi’s 400 square yard plot in Karachi, but the plot could not be retrieved yet despite application submitted to Karachi Development Authority (KDA) by Arif Alvi in 2017.

President Alvi had purchased the plot in Block-10, Gulistan-e-Johar, for Rs50,000 in 1978. However, he could not get it back even after passage of many years.

Seeking recovery of his plot, he had submitted an application with KDA in February 2017, alleging that the plot was sold by land mafia in connivance with KDA officials through china-cutting by changing its number.

Arif Alvi has confirmed the news and commented that many people are also affected by the illegal way of carving out smaller plots from large ones and sale them.

He said some corrupt elements are supporting land mafia in this illegal practice.

After the media reports, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Azhar Laghari also confirmed the news saying that president’s 400 square yards plot in Karachi was grabbed and sold by land mafia, he added that this matter should be resolved in judiciary.
